Megan DiPiero has quickly earned recognition as Southwest Florida’s favorite Headshot and Beauty portrait photographer. Out of her modest home studio she has built a powerful and ever-growing boutique brand, which provides a consistent six-figure salary for her family of four. Her passion for business and unique teaching voice have also made her a rising star in the mentoring world. She recently received a nomination for Grand Imaging award and has also served as a platform speaker at PPA’s Imaging conventions. Q&A with Megan DiPiero

What's your life motto? I never lose; either I win or I learn. And imperfect action beats perfect inaction.

Why do you love photography? I get to show people that they are beautiful, they are loved, and they are worthy.

What did you want to be as a kid when you grew up? The first female president and/or the Pope. (Note the “and/or”. I have always been pretty ambitious.)

What was one of the defining moments in your career? Speaking at Imaging USA for the first time. Five years prior, I sat in the audience watching a platform speaker in awe. I said to myself: “what would it take to reach that level of success?” I nudged my friends and said: “someday I’m going to speak.” Over the years that followed, I crafted my business around service and sales success, and made my mark. Anyone wishing to thrive in this business can make that dream come true.

Who has been one of the biggest influences of your work? Steve Jobs and Marcus Lemonis. I take great pride in my business skills. My work in the sales room is the art I work hardest to perfect.

What was your experience like with your very *first* client AND what did you learn from it? My first client ever paid me a "whopping" $70 for a complete session with digitals. I learned pretty darn quick that that wasn’t going to pay the bills. Within a year, I climbed from $70 for digitals to $2500 for digitals. And these days, clients pay up to $20,000 for digitals. And we’re all still smiling! Biggest takeaway: people will pay for what they value.
