Initially, I became a PPA member to pursue my certification. Why I continue, is so much more. PPA is always there to have my back when something goes wrong, but above all, I have met so many awesome people through the many avenues PPA has to offer...I am passionate about the certification program and am a certification liaison for Michigan (a position I have held for several years now). I also teach a mini-certification prep class for Super One Day, and am also working on another class (the details to be forthcoming soon). As I teach these classes, I am pursuing my craftsman degree thru PPA as well.

Benefits of Professional Photography Certification

Advertising Edge
Potential clients want a photographer they can count on, and certification gives them that extra level of confidence. With hundreds, sometimes thousands of photographers advertising in the same market, it's not always an easy task to get them through your studio doors. But advertising as a CPP is one way to distinguish yourself from the masses. Certification gives clients a concrete business reason to put you on their shortlist.

Pricing Justification
The digital era has made it much easier for inexperienced and fly-by-night photographers to throw their hats into the ring, undercutting professionals with rock bottom prices. Becoming certified as a photographer is an easy way to help consumers understand and appreciate your level of experience and talent.

Peer-Validation
Certification is granted by Professional Photographers of America, the world's largest non-profit association organized for professional photographers. That speaks volumes to potential clients about your skill. Certified Professional Photographers must recertify every three years. Once clients know this, they understand that education, training, and the latest industry techniques and skills are essential to you and your images.
