Most photographers didn’t start their businesses because they love spreadsheets—they started because they love creating beautiful images. If numbers make you want to hide behind your camera, you’re in good company. This workshop is built around the Profit First® system developed by Michael Michalowicz, and every participant will receive a copy of his bestselling book, Profit First, to continue the journey after class. Together, we’ll take a deep dive into your business—not just your finances, but your vision. We’ll explore where you want your studio to be in the coming years, what’s standing in the way, and practical, manageable steps to help you get there. You’ll leave with clarity, confidence, and a plan that feels achievable. We’ll also spend time behind the cameras working with models to practice using both natural light and studio lighting, techniques that will recharge your creativity. This is a safe, encouraging, and judgment-free workshop. You will never be expected to share your financial numbers unless you want to. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer for a supportive “hot seat” session, where we can work together on some of the biggest challenges they’re facing in their studios today. Whether it’s pricing, profitability, marketing, deciding whether it’s time to move from a spare bedroom or garage into a brick-and-mortar studio, or considering when to hire that first employee, we’ll tackle the real-world questions that shape both your studio and your future. Every discussion will be positive, respectful, and solution-focused. This isn’t about criticism or perfection. It’s about progress. My goal is for every participant to leave with practical next steps, renewed enthusiasm, and a clear understanding that building a profitable photography business doesn’t have to be complicated—or overwhelming. You’ll leave inspired, encouraged, and equipped with tools you can begin using immediately to build the business you’ve always wanted.
