Professional Photographer Submission Guidelines
Professional Photographer is the official magazine of Professional Photographers of America and has served the career needs of working professionals for more than 100 years. Most content is written by assignment, but occasional submissions are accepted. Regardless of whether they work full- or part-time in the business, professional photographers (those who earn an income from photography) may submit a story idea through the form below. Your story should draw from real-world experience and deliver photographic or business advice that readers can learn from and apply.
Please include a link to some of your images so that we can evaluate the type and quality of your work.
By submitting one or more images to Professional Photographer, submitter warrants:
- That they are either (a) the copyright owner of the images submitted to the magazine or (b) has sufficient rights in the images to grant Professional Photographer the right to use the work in the manner described herein. Submitter further warrants that they have made full disclosure regarding the authorship of each work submitted.
- That submitter has obtained all other necessary permissions for the publication of the work in Professional Photographer, including but not limited to, privacy releases. Submitter agrees to permit the use of the submitted work and has obtained permission for the use of all work submitted, in all print and electronic versions of publications owned or distributed by PPA Publications and Events, Inc. both current and future. This permission includes, but is not limited to, use in any and all excerpts, translations, revisions, reproductions, anthologies, archives, databases, or other materials promoting those publications regardless of format or medium, now known or hereinafter devised. While the submitter must keep a release for any submitted images on file, Professional Photographer requires the submitter actually provide a copy of a model release signed by a parent or legal guardian for any images of minors (children under the age of 18) that will appear on the cover.
- Submitter agrees to indemnify and defend Professional Photographer in the event any action arises relating to the alleged breach of the warranties mentioned herein.
- As good and valuable consideration for publication, Professional Photographer magazine agrees to give submitter proper photo credit.
