Love Letter to Nature

“Photography is my way of honoring the earth’s natural beauty and the stories it holds,” says Andy Katz, who recently published his 14th photography book, “A Walk in the Park,” a collection of photos he captured of U.S. national parks. Katz was assembling the book when Professional Photographer interviewed him for a profile story, “Beautiful Kismet.” Katz created the photographs presented in “A Walk in the Park” during a three-year van trip throughout the United States that he began during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I learned that this country is magnificent,” he says of his cross-country journey. After exploring 100 countries over the span of his 55-year career, he was pleasantly surprised to find the landscapes of his home country’s national parks so alluring. “I found the beauty of America to be as stunning as any other place,” he says. He will donate a percentage of the proceeds from sales of his book to America’s National Parks.
