PhotoCare Equipment Insurance is a valuable benefit included with your PPA membership—but to get the most out of it, there are a few important things to keep in mind before you activate your policy.

Things to Keep in Mind Before You Activate:
- This coverage isn’t automatic—you must activate it to be protected.
- PhotoCare covers up to $15,000 of your gear—cameras, lenses, lighting, and even computers—whether you’re in the studio, on location, or traveling internationally. One important note: PhotoCare equipment insurance is not available to PPA members located in New York, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
- It’s secondary insurance, which means it may kick in after your other coverage (like homeowners or business insurance).
- Don’t assume you're fully covered elsewhere—check with your primary insurance agent to be sure.
- Coverage is based on replacement cost—but not to exceed the item’s original purchase price. If you purchased used gear, your replacement cost may reflect that.
- There is a $7,500 sublimit for water-related damage, including floods.
- Flat deductibles make costs predictable:
- $350 for total loss or theft
- $50 for repairs
