In February, photographers from all over the world gathered in Grapevine, Texas, just outside Dallas, for PPA’s annual conference, Imaging USA. Professional Photographer magazine staff was on-site as usual to help with the festivities. We answered attendees’ questions at the registration area, checked in Imaging USA speakers who led insightful educational sessions, sold Imaging USA water bottles as part of our PPA Cares sustainability effort, and lent a hand at the “Professional Photographer” podcasting booth, where host Pat Miller conducted live interviews of photography and business experts. Senior Editor Joan Sherwood even announced the names of PPA degree recipients and their sponsors as they crossed the stage at the award and degree ceremony.

Chris Greer and Paul Daniel, hosts of the PBS show “View Finders,” debuted their first national episode, featuring their trip to photograph the Grand Tetons. Colorfully costumed Latin dancers were on hand as PPA debuted its “United Behind the Lens” display celebrating diversity within the industry. During Networking Avenue, one of PPA’s new degree recipients, Mandy Penn, M.Photog.Cr, CPP, modeled the stunning dress and cape she and a collaborator created out of old copies of Professional Photographer magazine (“Professional Photographer Couture,” Feb. 2025, page 80). We also enjoyed visiting many of the almost 150 exhibitors on the expo floor and watching live judging at the International Photographic Competition.
