About David

David Trust is the former Chief Executive Officer of Professional Photographers of America. He joined PPA in 1998 as its first Director of Marketing and, just over a year later, was selected to lead the association as CEO. During his tenure, David helped guide PPA through significant growth while improving member value and experience year after year.

For years, David has emphasized that big businesses focus heavily on brand while many small businesses overlook it, often because they do not fully understand it. In his presentation, David helps demystify this critical component of a successful business by breaking down the pieces of brand building into clear, practical concepts. Using real-world examples, he shows how those pieces work together and shares his 10 realities of brand building.

Before joining PPA, David spent 11 years in television news as a reporter and anchor before transitioning into marketing. His career includes serving as Director of Marketing for the St. Louis Cardinals AAA baseball franchise and leading the national corporate marketing department for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He has been a regular presence on Capitol Hill advocating for photographers’ rights and has testified before Congress on multiple occasions. David is also a proponent of courageous leadership and has taught leadership classes and seminars around the country.
