The Soft Focus II optic from Lensbaby improves on one of the company’s first and most popular optics in the Optic Swap System. This 50mm f/2.5 optic is compatible with current and all legacy Optic Swap lens bodies.
Improving on the original Soft Focus, the Soft Focus II adds a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to the drop-in magnetic aperture system. The optic’s aperture range is f/2.5 to f/22. At its brightest aperture settings, it creates an impressionistic image with subtle sharp detail beneath. At f/8 or darker apertures, there is a large central area of focus and out-of-focus edges on full-frame sensors or 35mm film. The aperture adjusts by turning the front of the optic.
The Soft Focus II is available for $179.95 for the optic only and for $279.95 for the optic with a fixed/straight lens body compatible with Nikon F, Canon EF, or Sony E mounts.
The Sigma 150-600mm F5.6-6.3 DG DN OS S is an excellent choice for photographers looking to get started with long focal lenses.
