Has Epson been eavesdropping? Improvements and new features in the 24-inch SureColor P7570 and 44-inch SureColor P9570 printers show that the company is responding to customers of its wide-format printers who wanted this fixed and that added.
To start with, users can now select matte black or photo black without switching ink tanks or going through an ink-changing process. And Epson’s new ltraChrome Pro12 pigment ink set boasts 12 colors, including a violet ink that expands the color gamut. A new print mode—black enhance overcoat—improves black density and reduces gloss differential on glossy media.
The new printers output up to 2.5 times faster than predecessors thanks to a new print engine and 12-channel print head. The cabinet features a sealed roll-media door to prevent dust from getting on the media, a maintenance access door, an internal light, and a retractable fabric catch basket. Advanced media support reduces damage to paper and automatically corrects skew, and a touch screen interface allows settings to be configured easily. $4,695 and $6,595
