Can art inspire people to take actions to prevent climate change? Guardians of the Ice, a nonprofit of photographers, writers, filmmakers, and scientists, is banking on it. The organization is leveraging fine art photography to raise awareness about the fragility and the beauty of Canada’s Columbia Icefield. Guardians of the Ice recently published a book, “Meltdown,” a collection of grand aerial photographs and closeups of the ice that conveys the inspiring beauty of the Columbia Icefields’ glacial environment, which is melting due to global warming.
“We are giving this glorious landscape a voice,” the book reads. “The ice and its guardian mountains stand mute; they cannot speak for themselves.”
