The user interface of Ultimate 2022 is somewhat unconventional with its abundance of mode buttons and icons in the menu bar. Manage mode provides access to image files on the computer.

The new Media mode is a database catalog that requires you to add files or folders to provide faster access and useful options such as sorting.

Access to the new People mode is through an icon in the menu bar. Faces found are displayed in the Unnamed display awaiting names.

After naming a displayed group, thumbnails open for you to further refine the AI-based selections within the group. An icon allows the deletion of non-members and other members can be added at any time.

The Manage mode provides more file information than the Media mode without having to import the folder into a catalog, but you must navigate to and access the folder each time in Manage mode.

Develop mode provides non-destructive raw file processing while the Edit mode provides a layered workflow with all of the expected image editing tools.

Color range selection with color wheels is new to Ultimate 2022, as is luminance range selection, adding further masking options.
