Before I began MoTo, I took the opportunity to test a new style of lighting on a shoot with actor Jason Scott Lee, using a Westcott 7-foot shoot-through umbrella and shooting at a higher f/stop.

For my first shoot for MoTo, I added a Westcott 24-inch Rapid Box Beauty Dish with diffusion and a grid. I used both to achieve this focused, soft, beautiful light.

Shooting at f/20 or f/22 gives these portraits a crisp depth. Lawyer Ikedi O. Onyemaobim, who I found through an Instagram post, posed as my second subject.

Musician, actor, and model Nina Bergman came by for a dual shoot. We took care of my MoTo shoot and then made a series of portraits styled by her friend Joe Haikul for her portfolio. This was a great shared effort.

While making portraits of high-end hat maker Gunner Foxx for an assignment, I learned he was a motorcycle enthusiast. The Westcott Rapid Box Beauty Dish is one of my go-to light modifiers. I had it with me and asked Gunner if he wouldn't mind posing for me. Never hurts to ask.
