I became a photographer initially because I was captivated by the way a photograph can link the lives and experiences of people without ever meeting. And I've been fortunate enough to go all over the world, documenting cultures and people. That connection and understanding that can come from a photograph is unparalleled I believe.
My proudest moment as a professional photographer was sneaking into church and photographing my mother receiving the Presbyterian Woman of the Year award without her knowing. Being able to give back to her with my talent was special.
I became a PPA member for the excellent value, protection, and professional standards PPA upholds for its members. PPA has been a great resource for hard to navigate issues such as copyright expertise, insurance solutions, and helping support the growth of a media studio.
Light inspires me creatively! Living on the gulf coast is such a gift because the way light dances across water, live oak trees, wisteria… Also, the truth in people's stories is an inspiration that keeps me looking for new ways to approach any assignment
What I like the most about Professional Photographer magazine is that there are always good stories about PPA members pushing boundaries, and also creative solutions to how to solve real world business issues that can arise out of nowhere.
