"I became a photographer because my father and grandfather were hobbyist photographers, my grandmother was a painter, and that genetic background must have influenced the choices I've made. I dabbled a bit in my youth with photography, but the first time I picked up a camera as an adult, I was instantly hooked. It changed the way I viewed the world and my place in it.
Earning my CPP was my proudest PPA-related moment. Since joining this organization, I've had loan images, was a silver medalist, and received my Master of Photography degree, but getting certified was the most important achievement to me. I'm also incredibly proud that I can use my skills as a professional photographer to support my family. There are so many sources of inspiration that I draw from, like fellow photographers, paintings, designs, and the art of the natural world. I also tap into performing arts for inspiration—music, theater, dance, and film. I was a musician and then a theater artist for my first two acts in life. My third and, I think, final act is as a photographer. Because of the diverse art forms I've explored, it feels very natural for me to weave together strands of creativity and incorporate them into my work."
