This demonstration-based workshop is a beginner's how to use basic studio lighting for most photography needs. We be discussing and practicing using different lights and modifiers. We will also cover several equipment brands and ways to economically get started with your purchases, use
of v-flats, umbrellas and soft-boxes. I will explain the use of key/main and fill lights for lighting
people. Then practice with supplied model(s)..
This class will help you to become more confident in studio lighting which can be a challenge. The class will give a solid foundation to be able to set up and light like a professional.
This workshop will cover:
·Introduction to strobe lights
·Illustrations of hard light versus bounced light versus diffused lighting
·Key light and Fill light demonstrations
·Use of one 'main' light and basic lighting for a portraits
·Introduction of a back-light
·Controlling the lighting on the background
·Options for creating soft lighting
·Main and fill light for portraits
The class will focus on the use of electronic flash using remote radio triggers.
Who Should Take This: anyone looking to advance their working skills in studio photography.
The class will be limited to five students so that each person has time to practice.
Nikon based flash triggers available for use.
There will be Pocket Wizards that will work on other manufacturers cameras available.
Expectation: The images created during the class to be shared with the model(s) without watermarks.
Course Items:
DSLR camera with a portrait lens (70 to 135mm), extra battery and memory cards
snacks, water, comfortable shoes (will be standing through out the class)
note taking materials
