Learn effective tools and techniques for photographing the flora and fauna of the Texas Brazos Bend area. Come ready to explore as you will have the potential to get up close to the birds, flowering plants, and the alligators that call Brazos Bend State Park home. Instructors Michael Mabrey and Scott Buckel will lead you on a walking tour of 2.5 miles or so around Elm Lake, providing tips and guidance towards improving your wildlife and nature photography. Whether your interest is capturing birds in flight, wild alligators cruising the lake or sunning on the bank, or capturing beautiful flowers, this course should offer something for everyone. During a lunch featuring Texas BBQ brisket, the instructors will address questions and review, and if desired critique (in camera) photographs taken during the morning walk. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to revisit locations of interest around Elm Lake until the end of class at 3pm.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be aware, that based on your instructor's prior experiences, you can expect exposure to many birds and other animals during the walking tour. However, since it is not a controlled environment, and you will be photographing wild animals in their natural habitat, there is no promise made regarding the presence of any animal, bird, or specific plant life during the class. Class will be held, rain or shine, unless lightning is present.
