This hands-on class will teach the fundamentals of set design, posing, and lighting of newborns for formal portraits. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice posing techniques. We will cover the safety guidelines for proper handling of newborns, including how to keep babies safe in the studio and what to watch for to indicate distress or discomfort. We will learn the proper placement of studio or flash lighting when working with newborns, and how to assess if your lighting is positioned correctly. Students will also be instructed and have the opportunity to practice designing a custom set for a newborn portrait.
