This course will be broken into two main objectives: 1. Understanding how to control your camera for proper exposure and 2. A breakdown of general rules of composition. I will encourage students to bring their cameras to the course so they can become comfortable with the concepts of exposure and handling as I breakdown the way shutter speeds, aperture, and ISO work together. We will discuss how shutter speed choice affects your results as well as how you can control depth of field with aperture. Then you will learn how to use them all together for desired results and correct exposure.
The second half of the course will discuss rules of composition such as Simplicity, Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Balance, Cropping, Mergers, and Framing. We will talk about the dos and don'ts of in camera composition as well as basic color theory. The course will include handouts, visual aids, interactive learning, time for questions, and I will allow each participant to bring an image for feedback and critique.
Course Items:Students are encouraged to bring their camera, note taking materials, and a personal piece of work that they may have a question about or want feedback on., money for lunch
