Psychology is absolutely and without a doubt more important than gear & technical ability in photography. Most photographers don't realise how important psychology is in what we do. It's more important than the quality of gear we have or the knowledge we have to use the gear. Without knowing how to connect with your subject, all the gear in the world and the knowledge of how to use the gear & technical prowess is superfluous. What we do is built on relationships and understanding others; recognising that our subjects we photograph are as emotional and vulnerable as we are behind the camera. Photographers need to focus more on that - than constantly being wrapped up in the gear we use or the techniques to do the shoot. In most cases, we have less than 120 seconds to capture a successful photo with a subject regardless of age, location and event. In this class, I will help breakdown the tried & true methods that have continually helped me be present and in the moment to capture authentic emotions & expressions on camera resulting in powerful photography that helps people see truly how beautiful they really are.
