Tina L. Caron, CPP
This course will teach students how to present a finished print, either for competition or for framing. You will start with preparing your print for mounting and matting. Then, you will review the importance of giving consideration to the paper and finish of the print itself to determine proper mounting methods. The class will have a demonstration and hands on practice creating hand torn edges, and how to protect the surface of delicate prints. Next, you will discuss presentation theory and how to best compliment the image being mounted. You will dive into the myriad options for substrates to mount prints, how to choose mat materials and colors, and considerations for longevity and archival needs. The class will shift into a hands on session starting with understanding mat cutting tools and equipment. Finally, you will trim down matboard and foamboard, create presentation mats, and finish with assembling both a mounted print and a matted print.
