Before selfies, flowers were the most photographed object. Their color, shape, form, texture, universality, delicateness and inability to tell us what they like and don’t like to make them the perfect subject. Whether they are store bought, grown in your backyard or in the wild their modeling fee is very little, and they follow directions. They have been revered, worshipped, put on state flags, and artistically captured for centuries. This is a hands-on workshop. In the morning the participants will explore several techniques, (using macrophotography, close-up photography and image stacking), to capture the flowers essence. The afternoon will be spent on post-capture processing to convert our images and create a more artistic rendition using Lightroom and Photoshop, and painting in Photoshop. Intermediate knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom is required. In Lightroom we will cull our images and develop Collections. Initially we will develop the images in the Develop module of Lightroom or in Photoshopâ€™s Adobe Camera Raw. Fine tuning will be accomplished in Photoshop. The participant should have a working knowledge in Photoshop of how to make layers, be familiar with the tool bar, be able to create a blank image, create a mask, and know about layer blending options. The Wacom tablet is a necessity for painting in Photoshop. The size of the tablet does not matter. We will review how to use the tablet, change nibs, and set-up a custom workspace for streaming your overall workflow. Time permitting, we will create borders and a frame.
Items to bring: Working lap top with all up-to-date operating systems, Latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom, Helicon (optional), Wacom tablet, Wacom pen and extra nibs, pad and pen/pencil, adjustable digital camera, close-up lens (50mm), macro lens optional, macro rail, and off camera flash.
