In this fun and informative class, you will examine works by the Old Masters of portrait painting. The class will discuss the importance of their works of art and how their art and methods can inspire our portrait process today. In the first part of this class, you will look at famous paintings by the Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Titian, Rubens, etc. You will examine examples of their work and their use of lighting, posing and storytelling in their images. You will then look at how we can incorporate their artistic techniques into our portrait work today. After a short break for lunch, everyone will use their works as our own inspiration. The class will work with lighting, wardrobe and models in studio to create our own portrait masterpieces. You will finish the afternoon by going over a few simple techniques in post processing to further refine and stylize your images.
