Amazing studio lighting effects can dramatically change the look of your work. They are also not that difficult to create. This is going to be a fun filled day of experimentation. This class is pretty much going to throw out the "rule" book and create some truly creative, images. Movie lighting recreations, exotic shadow effects, color manipulation with gels, in other words, a lighting free-for-all. There will be a few set looks you will create to start with, then let the ideas flow. While it may sound like it could be chaos, the class will collectively plan out the approach, then work as a team to pull off the desired look. Best of all, you will be doing this with very simple equipment. You'll leave with plenty of idea you can try out on your own. Bring your camera, a couple lenses, your ideas, and a willingness to collaborate and learn. Join this course for a pretty wild ride.
A working knowledge of using flash is a must. An understanding of working with off camera flash and use of a light meter will be very helpful. While not quite a totally advanced class, you won't be covering lighting basics. You are going to jump in and start creating from the start.
Items to Bring: DSLR, 1 or 2 lenses. Prime of zoom is fine, as long as you have something in the range of 24mm-135mm. They do not have to be very fast lenses. Anywhere between f/1.4 - f/5.6 (including variable) for the widest aperture. A speedlight is optional. The class may or may not have a scenario where it would be usable. The studio flash units you will be using are primarily Godox/Flashpoint. If you have a trigger for one of these units, feel free to bring it.
