The magic isn't found in the texture. The magic isn't found in the blending mode. The magic is found in the conversation between the two. This immersive, hands-on workshop is designed for photographers and digital artists who want to move beyond traditional image editing and discover new ways to create artistic imagery in Photoshop. Throughout the day, participants will learn how to identify, capture, and build their own library of custom textures, then explore how those textures interact with Photoshop's powerful blending modes to create mood, atmosphere, depth, and visual storytelling. Rather than simply applying overlays, you'll learn how to use textures as creative ingredients that help shape the emotional impact of an image. This workshop is highly interactive, with participants actively creating textures, experimenting with blending modes, and applying techniques to their own photographs in real time. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises, you'll discover how subtle changes in blending modes can dramatically alter the appearance and artistic direction of an image. We'll explore how different textures affect portraits, landscapes, composites, and fine art creations while developing an understanding of why certain texture and blending mode combinations work so effectively together. By the end of the workshop, you'll have created your own texture resources, developed a practical workflow for incorporating textures into your artistic process, and gained the confidence to experiment with new creative approaches. Most importantly, you'll learn how to see textures not simply for what they are, but for what they can become when combined thoughtfully with light, color, and imagination. Whether your goal is to create painterly portraits, competition-worthy artwork, or a signature artistic style, this workshop will provide the tools and inspiration to elevate your creative vision.
