Join internationally recognized automotive photographers Sarel van Staden and Maryna Cotton, founders of CarFineArt.com, for a hands-on introduction to their unique Focused Diffused Lighting (FDL™) technique. With decades of combined experience in commercial and fine-art photography, Sarel and Maryna have developed and refined FDL™ into a distinctive approach to photographing vehicles—revealing beautiful, controlled reflections and sculpting a car's form with light. This hands-on workshop takes place at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, giving you the opportunity to work hands-on with beautiful historic automobiles. You’ll learn the fundamentals of FDL™ and be introduced to FDL™ Light Painting, their creative long-exposure approach to lighting vehicles. Bring your camera, tripod, a 50mm lens, a CPL polarising filter if you have one, a camera flash and remote triggers. There will be a limited number of additional flashes and Canon/Nikon-compatible triggers available for those who need them.Whether you are new to automotive photography, looking to take your vehicle photography to a more sophisticated, fine-art level, or simply want a better understanding of how to use flash and continuous light creatively, this workshop is designed to get you shooting — not just watching. The workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate photographers who are comfortable operating their cameras in full manual mode. No previous experience with FDL™ is required —just a willingness to learn, experiment and get hands-on with light. You will be granted access to Sarel and Maryna’s online post-production class to teach you the post-production work-flow.
