Come and join me to learn, explore and have fun photographing at the Mystic Seaport and all it has to offer. There are lots of opportunities to increase your 'in-camera' photo skills. I will show how to get proper exposure in difficult lighting conditions and select subjects that are interesting to photograph. This is a fun place to photograph and learn new ways to get the best your camera has to offer; will stretch your imagination, teach what you see and not see all the while feeding your creative soul. There are lots of boats, people, and interesting subjects that make this a fun learning experience. Transport yourself back in time and visit historic buildings from all over New England that have been relocated to this recreated 19th-century seafaring village. You will explore historic exhibitions and watch craftsmen at work in this working shipyard. Come learn about composition, histograms, the ETTR (expose to the right philosophy), EDR (extended dynamic range), HDR (high dynamic range), and storytelling. We will take closeup photos to isolate a subject and explore different compositions and the use of leading lines. Learn when to use negative space and when to go in tighter on a subject. We will have the opportunity for wide-angle images both inside and outside. There is a wide variety of historic subjects, still life, and also people doing activities such as making barrels and blacksmithing. We can go inside some of the historic buildings and create images with good storytelling properties. Tall ships are another popular subject matter at this location. Come and photograph and learn for the whole day! This event will be held rain or shine (there are many covered shooting locations). When you sign up you must purchase a general admission ticket online from: mysticseaport.org $29.00 for Adults and $27.00 for seniors. **Please note that we will be spending the entire day at the historic Mystic Seaport Maritime Museum. This museum is outdoors and indoors. (you are free to explore the town of Mystic on your own in the evening after the workshop) .
