In this introductory workshop on photographic restoration, participants will explore and practice key concepts and techniques, including: how to create the best digital original; how to eliminate stains and discoloration in monochromatic originals; how to correct simple damage (cracks, tears, and spots); how to even out uneven tones; how to quickly eliminate widespread dust and fine scratches; and how to rebuild depth, texture, and detail. Our approach with each technique will be to explain, demonstrate, provide guided practice, and reflect on our attempts. Participants should have at least a basic working knowledge of Photoshop and plan to use it during the session. While some concepts are above beginner level, all participants should be able to follow and build upon what they know and can do. Note: You will earn a PPA Merit when you attend the program in person. PPA Merits are not earned if you elect to attend via Zoom.
