Learn to understand the inverse-square law and apply it to constant light and flash photography. We will start with an academic class on the inverse-square law taught at a level that a 5th grader can understand it. Then you will be shown how to calculate off camera flash/speed light power at a given distance without having to meter it for fast and consistent results. On to the studio session. Live shoot with a professional model while applying the inverse-square law using constant lights and flash. You will also learn how to use a light meter. After lunch we go to downtown Mount Olive to apply this knowledge to outdoor portrait sessions using off camera flash, reflectors, and natural light reflections. Bring your speed lights or off camera flash and learn how to quickly get an accurate flash exposure without a meter. No flash, no problem. Constant light and reflectors will be taught as well.
Course Items:Camera, off camera flash with light stand (if you use one), reflector, notebook and pen. We will be walking several blocks downtown so keep this in mind if mobility is an issue. There will be a 30 minute lunch. We are 3 blocks from a Subway, McDonal, money for lunch
