SUMMARY:Elevating Dance Portraiture: Movement\, Light\, and Story
DESCRIPTION:Dance photography is about more than capturing a beautiful pose
 —it&#039\;s about creating images that showcase strength\, artistry\, em
 otion\, and movement. In this hands-on workshop\, photographers will learn
  how to work confidently with dancers of all ages and skill levels while c
 reating impactful portraits that stand out.  Participants will learn how t
 o direct dancers safely and effectively\, capture movement with intention\
 , design flattering lighting setups\, and create compelling images that te
 ll a story. From understanding dance fundamentals to building dynamic comp
 ositions\, this workshop provides practical techniques that can be immedia
 tely applied in both studio and location settings.  Whether you&#039\;re n
 ew to photographing dancers or looking to elevate your current work\, you&
 #039\;ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to create dance portraits
  that are both technically strong and artistically meaningful.  By the end
  of this workshop\, participants will be able to communicate more effectiv
 ely with dancers using fundamental dance terminology\, pose dancers safely
  while emphasizing strong lines\, extension\, and technique\, and capture 
 movement with greater precision and impact. Attendees will learn how to cr
 eate lighting setups that enhance shape\, form\, and emotion while develop
 ing stronger compositions that tell a story through movement. They will ga
 in practical skills for photographing dancers in both studio and location 
 settings and leave with strategies for building a distinctive and profitab
 le dance photography offering that serves dancers\, studios\, and families
 .  Attendees should bring their camera\, a lens suitable for portrait phot
 ography (I recommend 2.8 or faster\, but it is not required)\, fully charg
 ed batteries\, memory cards\, and a notebook or device for taking notes. P
 articipants are encouraged to bring a camera with manual exposure controls
  and a basic understanding of exposure settings. If available\, attendees 
 may also bring a laptop or tablet for image review and editing exercises. 
  All lighting equipment and dance models will be provided for instructiona
 l and demonstration purposes.
