High School Seniors: Social Media Essentials
Technology has changed how we communicate. We don’t call; we text. We don’t write letters or keep a diary; we email and blog. To look something up, we Google it, and we no longer ask people to call us; we friend them on Facebook.
Social media is all the rage, and if you’re not doing it, you’d better believe that your target audience is! Learn how to join the social media mix so your business doesn’t get left behind, especially if you focus on seniors’ photography!
In this class, PPA Instructor Jen Basford will help you create and use an online presence to grow your business. Jen will discuss how to use a blog, website, Twitter, Facebook and more to stay up to date and market yourself and your brand to the social media masses.
You’ll also learn how to:
- Capture the public’s interest by being involved online in various communities.
- Post across all platforms and be prepared for when they change (because they will).
- Become an online source of knowledge; become a person “in-the-know.”
When you’re done with this class, people will know you and your business before they ever meet you!
We value your feedback and want to know how we can improve. Please share your thoughts about the class here.

Jen Basford is best known for her high school senior portraits and the annual must-see fashion show she puts on for upcoming seniors each spring. She owns a 3,500-square-foot, custom-designed studio in Edmond, OK, and markets to a high-end, fashion-forward boutique clientele. In fact, she has become one of the top senior portrait photographers in the Midwest largely due to her out-of-the-box approach to marketing, social media and client relationships.
Besides Jen's love of fashion, she enjoys posting on Instagram, obsessing over pretty office supplies at russell + hazel, and Sonic's Diet Dr. Peppers. You can find her speaking to local and regional PPA groups, and educating next-level senior photographers through her organization Seniors Ignite.
