Here at PPA, we understand that photography is not just your passion, it’s also your business. And in order to be a successful professional photographer, you have to have more than great technical skills. This is why PPA offers the Business Challenge to help you grow and succeed as an entrepreneur and business owner. PPA’s Business Challenge takes you step-by-step through the fundamentals of running a successful and sustainable photography business. Don’t put your trust in trial-and-error when you can build upon the firm foundation of trusted business principles to get your photography career on the path to sustainable success.

What is The Business Challenge? 

• An entire year of education and learning. The Business Challenge is a year-long endeavor and in the past, this meant you only had one chance to join in on the challenge each year. Due to recent changes, starting late spring of 2020, PPA members will be able to jump in at any time using the self-guided Edu platform! This change will allow more photographers to join in and complete challenges faster than ever and grow more efficiently as business owners. 
• The chance to work with a dedicated mentor and peer group. As part of the challenge, you will be joined with a group of your peers and have access to a challenge mentor. This mentor, along with those in your group, will help keep you on track and act as accountability partners to help ensure your success.
• Guidance along the way to help you succeed and grow. The Business Challenge will teach you how to define and develop a personalized plan of success, set achievable goals, create a profitable pricing and sales strategy, develop a customized business plan and prioritize your tasks. This structured approach will allow you to quickly gain confidence, maintain focus, and stay connected with like-minded photographers who are completing the same challenges.

When you join in on the Business Challenge, you will receive a resource guide. This guide is not only a way to keep track of your progress, it is also your one-stop-shop for tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your experience. We know that many of you are stuck at home right now and you may be struggling with negative emotions like fear, anxiety, and frustration. We want to help you re-focus on your business and keep you proactive, motivated and productive. Video guides and classes taught by instructors like Angela Kurkian, PPA’s Director of Education, are a crucial part of the Business Challenge. In this video, Kurkian breaks down Square One of The Business Challenge. This video is accessible to anyone with a free PPA account as a part of the unlocked education video resource series. Are you ready to embark on your challenge? If you don’t want to wait for the launch of the new Edu platform, a new Challenge began February 1 and (if you don’t mind playing catch up) we’ll be happy to add you to the current group! Future Challenges will begin in late spring on the new self-guided EDU platform and will be available to begin at any time.
