That’s A Wrap! The Biggest Takeaways from the District Photographers Competition

6/17/2019

The 2019 District Photographic Competition is over and up next is the International Photographic Competition, which takes place August 18-23.

During Districts, a total of 36 jurors from across the United States came to PPA headquarters in Atlanta, GA, and assessed more than 3,800 entries from June 2-7. Photographers were judged against a standard of excellence known as the “12 elements of a merit image”, and 1,836 images were selected for the “seal of approval” which means the image will automatically “merit” if entered into the IPC.

All photographers are welcome to enter the IPC, which opens June 14, and while you enter, you should consider ordering a critique as well! The critique process consists of jurors giving photographers advice that will improve the quality of their work and potentially highlight those chosen for Imaging USA 2020’s Grand Imaging Awards.

Images accepted into the General and Loan Collections will also be on display during Imaging USA in Nashville, TN, January 19-21, 2020. These images comprise one of the world's largest annual exhibits of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.

Enter the International Photographic Competition today! Entries received after July 18 at 5 pm ET will be accepted with a late fee through August 1. Please note that no entries will be accepted after August 1, 2019 by 5 pm ET. For more information check out this year's IPC rules.
