“I see so much potential in our members–much more than they might see in themselves. If I could convince just one person this year they are not defined by their circumstances or limited by their abilities– if I could see that person reach heights they never imagined were possible, I’d consider this year to be a huge success.” Mark Campbell, M.Photog.Cr., CPP, API, takes the position of PPA Board of Directors president today, March 1, and brings with him his reserve of compassion and eagerness to uplift others. Campbell believes in taking a somewhat systematic approach to facing the obstacles in our way and encourages other photographers to move out of “analysis paralysis” and to take the steps necessary to move closer to your goal. “What are your challenges?” He asks. “And what’s keeping you from getting there?”
Campbell becomes the non-profit's president after serving last year as vice president. Allison English Watkins, M.Photog.M.Wed.Photog.Cr., CPP assumes the role of vice president, and Pete Rezac, M.Photog.M.Artist.Cr., CPP becomes treasurer. Past president Kira Derryberry, M.Photog.Cr., CPP, M.Photog.Hon.M.Photog.Cr., CPP, takes the board’s chairman role, which rounds out the executive board positions.
The 13–member Board of Directors–all PPA members–will shape the association's vision through February 2025. You can view the entire Board of Directors here.
New to the board is also Terri Baskin, a professional wedding photographer from Washington, DC. When asked about her new position on PPA’s Board of Directors, Baskin says that being nominated and elected is an honor. "I feel blessed and excited to help represent so many photographers across the country. I consider this an opportunity to use my experience to help shape the future of the industry, advocate for fellow photographers, and inspire the next generation of visual storytellers!"
Cris Duncan, M.Photog.M.Artist.Cr., CPP also steps up as a Director this year, bringing along his years of experience as an educator and photography professional. “PPA has been an integral part of our business and life that I cannot imagine it not being there. As a member of the board of directors, I hope to continue the legacy of helping photographers grow in their craft and business and help shape the photographic industry into one that continues to thrive.”
David Mesarch, CPP is also a newly elected Board member and shares his excitment to be making an impact at PPA. “I'm excited and humbled to be elected to the Board of Directors, a role I view not just as a position, but as my chance to really get involved and make a difference in our vibrant community. It's about rolling up my sleeves, guiding, and uplifting everyone as we move forward together. My heart is set on making a significant impact and I'm determined to turn visions into victories, with a dash of humor, ranch dressing, and a commitment to collaboration along the way."
