Merit Image Review Opens December 13

Now you can work on your degree one image at a time! 


December 13 marks the first day for PPA members to register and submit their images to the Merit Image Review. This new system incorporates flexibility for photographers to submit anywhere between one to four of their images each time. Now, participants will receive immediate feedback once their images are reviewed. In the case their image does not merit, they can choose to receive a critique, work on that image, and re-submit at a later time. And they can submit new images at any time. 

Images will still be judged on the 12 elements of a merit image by our panel of trained PPA jurors. You can expect to receive your results and merits immediately following the review in the same month. To check on the results of your submission, go to your myPPA portal and check “myAchievements.” Images can be submitted to the Merit Image Review year-round, but judging only takes place February–November. The reason for postponed results in December–January is to accommodate the busy holiday photographic season and the annual Imaging USA conference. 

For those still eager to participate in the photographic competition, don’t worry! Details of the new International Photographic Competition will be released in February 2023. You can expect a much larger competition featuring prizes, medals, and the chance to compete for the Grand Imaging Award!
