We know that many of you are watching reports about government assistance that may soon be available to small businesses. We want you to know that PPA is actively advocating in favor of financial aid specifically targeting professional photographers and other small businesses. You may have heard that the United States Senate is currently working on just such a package. Sometimes news reports can be confusing, which is why we want to give you the latest information available to us.
We are being told by our close contacts in Washington D.C. that the Senate will continue through the weekend to debate the measures that appeared in news reports this morning. It is likely that the Senate will not vote on those proposals until Monday. After that, the measure will go to the House of Representatives for approval. As soon as that happens, we will create information on how you can access that assistance.
In the meantime, we urge you to go to ppa.com/InItTogether and become familiar with that page. It is becoming more robust daily, and will be your single stop for information on government benefits. It also features education & webinars specifically addressing things you should be engaged in during these unprecedented times. We would also encourage you to check-in regularly on the Professional Photographers of America Facebook page for information. As a reminder, this is a great time to brush up on your photographic and entrepreneurial skills on PPAedu. We’ve opened all of PPA’s online education so that, when this is over, you can hit the ground running!
These are difficult and uncertain times, to be sure. PPA’s staff and board of directors are feeling the same kinds of emotions each of you are dealing with. We are all “In It Together.” Above all, we urge you to be safe, stay healthy, and know that you are not alone.
All the best,
David Trust, Chief Executive Officer
