Learn How to Photograph Beautiful Food: Free Video

PPA wants to offer you as many opportunities as possible for you to learn more and become a better photographer. That's why PPA created its massive Online Learning Center, an extensive library with hundreds of educational videos that best fit you and your business.

Along with that, it's free! As a PPA member, you can access these videos any time, any place, any day! If you're not a member, you can still sample these learning opportunities, because every month PPA releases a video that's open for everyone to watch, but be sure to hurry because you'll only be able to access this video until the end of the month!

July's free photography video is "Commercial: Photographing Food" by Joe Glyda, M.Photog.Cr., CPP. In this video, commercial food photographer Joe Glyda explains the process of photographing fresh fruit for commercial use through the steps of preplanning, conversing with your intended production and art director, and working with a food stylist. Throughout this process, Joe discusses the numerous roles played to get the perfect shot and demonstrates three different lighting styles used to photograph fruit.

Non-members will have access to this video the entire month of July!

Joe is a nationally recognized commercial photographer specializing in food photography and an avid instructor in the photography industry.  Forty years ago, in 1977 Joe started his photographic career with Kraft Foods. He worked his way up the ladder quickly to the Creative Services department to become one of their Senior Photographers and a few years later, the Digital Imaging Manager. His work began in the darkroom in 1975 and by 1995 he successfully led the company to a full digital-format studio.  Joe took an early retirement package from the company in 2010 after 35 years in the industry and continues his photographic career through Joe Glyda Photography, Inc. which he started in 1988.

Joe is a PPA Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman and received the Master Artist degree from Professional Photographers of America in 2014 and was Re-Certified in 2015. Joe resides near Tulsa, OK, and has expanded his business from food and product photography to architectural, aviation and pre-press retouching for corporate clients.
