It’s only been a little over a month, but the PPA offices have been completely lit up with excitement over the potential passage of The CASE Act! Staffers are sending their emails, posting to social, and encouraging influencers everywhere to spread the word… copyright equality is coming and photographers’ rights will finally be protected!
PPA Members Champion The CASE Act and Copyright Equality
PPA members, of course, hit the ground running. They are organizing meetings, sending their own emails, traveling to D.C. to meet with their representatives, calling, posting to social media, and even helping by sharing with us their own Copyright Stories and how copyright protection would have helped them…and will help them once The CASE Act becomes law!
In case you need a reminder on what we’re fighting for: The CASE Act and photographers’ copyrights
The CASE Act (Copyright Alternative to Small Claims Enforcement Act), also known as the “small claims” bill, would allow photographers to truly take advantage of the U.S. copyright system for the first time since its inception. It would provide content creators with an affordable remedy to protect their works, and make sure that they are paid for what they produce. The bill would establish a tribunal operating under the U.S. Copyright Office, who would oversee this new small-claims process for infringement remedies.
