How to Achieve Exemplary Family Photography Sessions

One challenge family photographers face is that, most times, they are working with inexperienced models, and of course, kids. Nonetheless, if adequately planned, the session can be fun for both the photographer and the family. In “Photoshoot ATJ Style Part One”, Allison Tyler Jones demonstrates how she achieves both impeccable photos and a pleasant experience during a family session.

In this new video on PhotoVision, Allison photographs a family of six in her studio in Mesa, AZ. She discusses how she preps her stage area ahead of time, so when small children come in she can focus directly on them and not have the distractions of getting things in place. She explains how she starts with the more traditional looks then moves toward the silly, magic shots once the family has settled in and become more comfortable in front of the camera.
