CPP Spotlight: Beth Brinston

Beth Brinston, M. Photog., CPP, is a photographer from Bend, Oregon. She’s been a member of PPA since 2014, and her work was among the top images of the 2021 International Photographic Competition and 2021 Grand Imaging Awards. As the owner Brinston & Company, Beth’s affinity for animals shines through in her stunning pet photography.

We asked Beth to tell us about her experience of becoming a Certified Professional Photographer and what PPA members can expect out of the process. If you’ve ever wanted a firsthand account of what the CPP process entails and what the benefits of being certified are, keep reading!

The reason I became certified is I wanted a way to stand out in my community amongst the competition.  Certification allowed me to advertise that I am professionally trained and acknowledged by my peers as one of the best in my craft. The CPP process improved my photography skills 10 fold. It allowed me to master the technical skills I needed behind the lens to produce the images that I wanted for my clients.

This is one of the best things to do to advance your craft.  Knowing that your work meets a standard within the professional photography community gives you the confidence you need to charge your worth and helps remove the imposter syndrome that all artists have.
