House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives would remain in session until a deal was reached on the next coronavirus stimulus bill thereby extending the initial House calendar past October 2nd, the last day on its legislative calendar before the election. The Senate is currently poised to recess on October 2nd as well.
This news comes as both sides of the aisle spent weeks seeking a deal only to entrench themselves further in their positions. Pressure remains on leadership in both chambers to reach an agreement before going home to their districts, especially legislators that are seeking reelection. Lawmakers on both sides have therefore formed groups to break the logjam and get back to the negotiations.
We hope that the House and Senate will reach a deal soon as photographers and all Americans face hardships in this pandemic.
