An Event Professional’s Guide to Networking for Introverts

We hear it all the time: "I'm so bad at networking! I can't do it. I'm an introvert!"

This article from Exhibition World by Stuart Wood offers up "An introvert's guide to networking." It is technically written for event professionals but photographers will find the article just as helpful. Wood describes ways that, even as an introvert, you can learn ways to make networking more comfortable for you.

Do you need to redefine networking? Often we have a preconceived notion of what networking is that might be outdated or just doesn't fit with our introverted lives and personalities. Have you considered attending trade shows (like Imaging USA), educational events, or even gym meetups? Change up the way you think about where you're networking and how.

There are cool tips in this article like wearing a t-shirt with an inspirational slogan so you come off as approachable and have something to talk about. It's all about making yourself and others comfortable and giving them a reason to talk to you. Ask questions that lead to full, well-rounded conversations!

Other tips include getting people talking and playing "matchmaker". Read the full article to get all of these tips and then head to Imaging USA in January and put them into action!
