This year has been unpredictable, to say the least. Although 2020 was filled with challenges, the Thanksgiving holiday is a great time to reflect on the positive moments that 2020 brought (no matter how few or far between) and on the relationships that we value most in our lives.
This holiday season is without a doubt different than the ones we remember, and that makes it even more important to find ways to show gratitude to loved ones in your life. For many, that means connecting with family and friends through Zoom or Facetime. There are also other ways that you can cultivate a positive outlook through gracious actions, including these five tips from past Imaging USA keynote Jim Quick:
1. Keep a gratitude journal.
Each morning and night, write down three things you’re thankful for.
2. Tell someone you appreciate them.
Write a thank-you note or start a phone call/Zoom meeting by expressing thanks.
3. Think of one thing you like about yourself.
Pick a daily behavior, like brushing your teeth, as the time to remind yourself to be thankful for one of your best traits.
4. Practice mindfulness.
Spend time in nature without your digital devices.
5. Reduce judgment.
Halt your inner critic and flip your perception to the positive.
Practicing gratitude daily can improve your physical health, mental strength, energy level, sleep, and self-esteem. Plus, it helps you to better serve your clients and manage your business. So, take some time this season to reflect on what you are thankful for and who in your life you appreciate… and let them know!
From everyone here at PPA, Happy Thanksgiving!
