We're in the business of building business
The Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA) doesn't just have the largest, most diverse membership of professional photographers...we help them become stronger. Putting our resources back into the industry provides greater benefits both to our members and to the companies that serve them. Companies like yours.
Professional Photographers of America
In existence since 1880, PPA has an established, trustworthy reputation in the industry.
The majority of the over 22,000 members are small business owners doing all types of photography, primarily serving consumers directly with portraits and wedding photos. These photographers join PPA for unrivaled business and photographic education, the many member benefits (from malpractice-type protection to referral databases), the exclusive Copyright & Government Affairs department, educational and networking events like Imaging USA, the connection to peers willing to share advice and ideas, and so much more.
PPA also has 180 local, state, and regional affiliated organizations.
Society of Sport & Event Photographers
SEP is dedicated to helping sport and event photographers become more successful, focusing all of its efforts on this photographic specialty.
Members are photographers of sports tournaments and events, youth leagues, recitals, reunions, proms and other special events (including weddings). They join SEP to stay ahead of their competition with resources and information to increase business skills, expand technical knowledge, protect their copyrights, network, protect their reputations (with malpractice-type protection), and much more.
Evidence Photographers International Council
Since 1968, EPIC has been the nonprofit educational and scientific organization dedicated to the advancement of evidence and forensic photography and videography. In 2007, they joined the Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA) and its group of photography associations (PPA, SEP, CPI, and SPS).
EPIC members are evidence photographers in law enforcement and other public service agencies, joining for the education, certification, and resources they need to develop skills and knowledge in their specific fields.
Student Photographic Society
SPS was created to assist photographic students and educators with information, resources, and programs that further the educational experience and support the transition from student to professional photographer (in all disciplines of professional photography).
Members (about 1,000 strong) include both students and educators in 300 different colleges, universities, and trade schools.
Commercial Photographers International
CPI is a dynamic nonprofit organization specifically for the commercial photography market. Led by successful commercial photographer volunteers and a skilled professional staff, this association has put together information, resources and materials for photographers in this rapidly changing industry.
Members include photographers who sell products and services to businesses for advertising, media, catalogs, architecture, and other commercial uses, for CPI is prepared to serve the needs of all types of commercial photographers.
