What type of membership is best for you?
We offer two types of membership for our U.S. members: Professional Active and Aspiring. Both memberships offer the Indemnification Trust option.
What's the difference?
Aspiring Members have never been a PPA member. You can have all the benefits that Professional Active members receive, except:
- You are not listed in the PPA Find-A-Photographer database
- You cannot vote in the PPA Council Election (or run for PPA Council), and
- You cannot receive a PPA Professional Degree (but you can begin receiving merits towards your degree).
You can only be an Aspiring member two years. You'll be automatically upgraded to full Professional Active status on your third year renewal. This member type is not available to past members.
The annual membership fee for Aspiring members is $194 with the Indemnification Trust and $144 without the Indemnification Trust.
Professional Active members have access to all PPA benefits, can vote in the PPA Council election, and are listed in PPA's Find-A-Photographer database. If you've been a PPA member in the past, this is your option.
The annual membership fee for Professional Active members is $323 with the Indemnification Trust and $273 without the Indemnification Trust.
The PPA Indemnification Trust
If you choose a Wedding, Portrait, or High School Senior classification as one of your Specialties, Inemnification Trust is mandatory.
What is the Indemnfication Trust?
The Indemnification Trust is an exclusive PPA member benefit. It's a trust fund that protects PPA members against allegations of negligence while on a paid assignment. This includes digital data loss, client dissatisfaction, and more. For details, click here.
(If you didn't choose the classifications listed above, you can always choose to add the Indemnification Trust fee to your membership for the annual $50 fee.)
