Top Portrait Photographer, William S. McIntosh, Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Award will be presented January 2010 at major industry conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Atlanta (PRWEB) December 23, 2009 – Professional Photographers of America (PPA) announced today that it will confer its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to William S. (Bill) McIntosh, M.Photog.Cr., a long-time industry leader among portrait photographers. The award, presented to professional photographers who have made significant lifelong contributions to enriching the profession, will be presented to McIntosh during the Awards and Degree Ceremony, January 12, 2010 at Imaging USA, one of the industry’s largest professional photographers’ conventions, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

With a career that spans more than 60 years, McIntosh started out as most professional photographers do—shooting weddings, seniors and families. His artistic flair and unique ability quickly made him one of the most sought-after portrait photographers and built his reputation as a professional craftsman who utilizes precision technique in lighting, posing and other artistic elements of fine photography.

A variety of degrees and honors speaks to McIntosh’s focus on quality and adherence to standards of excellence that distinguish professional photography. He has earned PPA’s Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees, is a Fellow with the American Society of Photographers, the British Institute of Photography and the Royal Photographic Society. McIntosh is also an honorary Fellow with the Master Photographers Association and is one of only a few dozen photographers in the country to have been selected for membership in the prestigious Cameracraftsmen of America.

McIntosh’s work has been featured by the Fujifilm Corp., the Eastman Kodak Co. and Mamiya Camera Corp. He has exhibited at the International Center for Photography in New York, at the International Photography Hall of Fame and has been featured at the Walter Chrysler Museum of Art.

Still in demand, McIntosh currently works with his daughter in Virginia Beach, Va., but he’s doing fewer high school seniors these days and more celebrities, authors and executives. McIntosh has authored three books—“Location Portrait Photography,” “The Classic Portrait” and “The Executive Portrait,” due to be released in January.

“PPA gives the Lifetime Achievement award to those few professionals who have truly improved our industry’s standing with their accomplishments and there is no better representative than Mr. McIntosh,” says Ron Nichols, PPA president. “He is a wonderful ambassador for the distinct value professional photographers bring to clients and our life’s work.”
