Dear PPA Member,
Reason number 682 of why I love my job: I occasionally get to visit PPA members' studios. Seeing how you work, how you've creatively designed your work and show space, and the atmosphere in which you practice your craft is like taking a peek behind the curtain. It's just plain cool.
I have to say, photographers have some of the most unique "offices" I've ever seen. No one's is the same because they reflect your artistic style, clients and needs. In fact, Jeff Dachowski's studio--which he talks about in this week's Vital Signs--is in a converted factory space in New Hampshire. My ancestors worked in those factories! (But I've been to Jeff's studio, and I bet my ancestors wouldn't recognize it now...)
So if you have a studio, read on to ensure you're getting the most use out of it. And you'll find plenty of things to think about if you don't currently have a studio, but are thinking about designing one--or redesigning one.
Cheers!
