Professional Photographer recently won nine GAMMA awards at the 17th Annual Magazine Association of the Southeast Awards dinner. Vying with several other publications in its category (business-to-business, ad sales over $1 million), Professional Photographer’s April edition landed three Gold GAMMA awards—Best photography; Best Design for the April cover featuring a story by photographer Dan Winters; and Best Single Cover, featuring Winters’ portrait of actress Kate Winslet. A Silver GAMMA was also awarded in the categories of General Excellence, Best Magazine Overall and Best Redesign over previous editions.
Vickie and Jed Taufer’s photographs (September 2005) earned a Silver Gamma, and the photography of Parish Kohanim (January 2005) was awarded Bronze. The magazine’s feature “It Happened to Me” won a Bronze GAMMA for Best Series. An Honorable Mention was awarded for the cover of the January edition, featuring a photograph by Jeffrey and Julia Woods.
“The photography in Professional Photographer is both captivating and inspirational,” commented one judge. “It truly deserves the gold GAMMA because it inspires photographers to make beautiful pictures, which is ultimately why we are all in this business.”
Professional Photographer, the official magazine of PPA, is considered one of the leading publications for photography.
