What do you do with a 100 pound, 4 Gigapixel camera? You photograph the Untited States of America, all of it! That is what the Gigapxl Project team is out to do. The Project's near-term goal is to compile a coast-to-coast portrait of America; photographing her cities, parks and monuments in exquisite detail.
To date they have captured 500 images, mostly landscapes from the american west and southwest, national parks, and urban areas, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver. In March of last year, they exhibited their first 21 foot wide panoramic image at The Albuquerque Museum. It was scaled down about 50% to fit the space. (A full sized image would measure 48' wide by 24' tall)
