By Aleighia Rouse

Imaging USA is less than 3 months away and as you begin to pack your suitcases and camera bags, PPA wants to get you excited about the wonderful experience you will have. This year the Business Track will include some great talks ranging from marketing to wedding photography. Take a look at a few of the classes being offered:

Thursday, January 7 and Friday, January 8
9 am- 5 pm
This class will provide essential elements to building a photography business, beginning with lighting techniques, posing skills and sound business practices. Doug and Steve are a great pair to kick off your Imaging USA experience by learning new ways to turnaround your profits for your business. This is a 2-day pre-con program, offered in a small group setting on the Thursday and Friday prior to the start of Imaging USA and costs $199 for both days

Saturday, January 9
9 am- 5 pm
This class is for the prospective and wedding photographers out there, as you probably know wedding photography can become a full commitment upon entering this profession. Carrie provides special tips and advice to create a plan for success in your business. This all-day pre-con program, offered in a small group setting on Saturday, prior to the start of Imaging USA costs $129.

Sunday, January 10
8 am - 9:30 am
This dynamic photography power couple teams up to speak on simple and easy ways that a photography business can generate a substantial amount of profits. Their class is broken into different stepping stones that one uses to see successful results in their business.

Monday, January 11
10 am- 11:30 am
Photographers are not only visual artists, but storytellers. There are many important factors in producing a portrait or image like composition and lighting, but ultimately if there is not story behind the image there is nothing. Dean will be discussing this along with his personal perspective of story within his images.

Tuesday, January 12
5:15 pm- 6:30 pm
The marketing guru Sarah Petty will give insight to sustaining a six figure photography business, she will teach these three steps: (1.) The number one way to take the emphasis off price and have clients begging for what you have. (2.) What your biggest asset is and the good news is, you already have it. (3.) What to do when business is slow, ways to generate income that doesn't include discounting.

There are a lot of pre-convention classes offered from January 7-9, each ranging in price. Additional registration is required because these programs are setup in and for small group settings in order to ensure a maximal learning and practice experience. That's right, for some of these classes you'll definitely need your camera, or your laptop, as these are hands-on learning classes!
